Healing Justice Circles

In these monthly healing justice circles, we will hold space for each other while we engage healing justice topics with the whole self, learn new skills, and practice gentle yoga and meditation. Cost is on a sliding scale, $5-$25. Half of all proceeds go to Oakwood Community Center. Please bring a yoga mat and journal for writing. (Some yoga mats will be available).

The circle will be held on the last Saturday of the month (May and November are adjusted for holidays) from 2pm-4pm. These are drop-in circles so come to them all or any of them that interest you. It is a trauma-informed space and we will set intentions to help take care of one another while we also take responsibility for our own needs.

The circles are focused on healing justice and is for anyone who identifies as an activist, social worker, counselor, teacher, caretaker, organizer, etc. and who is interested in mindfulness-based self-care, attending to collective and internalized oppression, and embodying wholeness in their own lives, families, and work.

Drawing from the framework put forth in her book, Healing Justice: Holistic Self-Care for Change Makers, Loretta will facilitate a topic each month based on the 6 capabilities (mindfulness, compassion, curiosity, critical inquiry, effort and equanimity) and the 6 dimensions of the self (body, emotions, mind, community, nature, and spirit)

Upcoming Themes:
October – nature
November – equanimity
December – spirit

The circles are facilitated by Loretta Pyles. You can learn more here – www.lorettapyles.com or feel free to reach out with questions – llpyles@gmail.com.
