Oakwood Soul Café is a “pay-what-you-can” community meal prepared by a rotating group of volunteer chefs every second Monday of the month. The event aims to bring diverse neighbors together around the dinner table. We provide a low cost, nutritious meal to 80+ people each month. Soul Café meals are typically prepared on a budget of $150, relying, in part, on “culled” produce—good food that would otherwise be thrown away by grocery stores and farmers market vendors. Oakwood uses as much culled produce as possible to prepare the meals, keeping the tomatoes with bruises and otherwise “ugly” produce out of the landfill, using these ingredients in delicious soups or stews.
Join us on the 4th Monday of the month from September to May at 6 PM. Find us on Facebook for up to date announcements and menus!
